Basic Email Attachment Information

Every Lender uses a different electronic format for the document packages delivery depending on how they prepare the package before emailing to the closing agent. In each case you will need a program to perform to function of decoding and formatting it for your printer that in almost every case must be a Hewlett Packard (HP) printer with Printer Control Language (PCL2) or better, and depending on how many document must be printed should be a “Laser”. Some other printer manufacturers will have a setting that will emulate the HP-PCL Language and should work for most Email Programs.

 Here is a list of generic steps to follow when getting a email document delivery: 

1)      Read all instruction that may come in the email in detail before starting process.

2)      Allow ample time for the program and data package to download to your computer. A phone/modem connection may take 2-3 hours ! !

3)      Install the program needed to decode the data package that contains the documents. The program file will be the larger than the data file.

4)      Most programs will have you reboot your computer after installation.

5)      Then go back to the email and open or save the data file now that your system will recognize the formatting in the data file.

6)      Be sure to have your printer online and loaded with Legal paper or both letter and legal if your printer has 2 paper trays.

Email Programs & Instructions

A good indication of the format a file is created under is in the file name, by looking at the last 3 letters after the period (Known as the File Extension) you can identify the program to use in printing your closing package.

 (i.e. filename.PRN / filename.PCL / filename.ZIP / filename.PDF)
